Strategic Planning
The basic question we are trying to answer: Assuming we're growing to a congregation of 350-400, what will our worship offerings be in 3, 4, and 5 years from now?
Mark proposed that the goal be accommodating all attendees in two sittings.
We might try to do that with the current facility (Mark discounted this
option), or plan for an expanded worship facility (either here or at some
other location). Given that target, the immediate task becomes planning
the transition from where we are to a larger facility that accommodates
everyone in two services.
We currently have roughly 240 members and a Sunday adult attendance of about 160. If we preserve that 3-to-2 ration, with a membership of 400, we would have about 265 adults at worship. For planning purposes, we are building a worship program that will serve 250-300 adults per week.
The discussion will continue at the February meeting.
Change for the World
Drafts of a program description for Change for the World and a job description for the coordinator of that program were considered, amended, and accepted. Marvin Benson agreed to be the Coordinator for the selection of charities for the next four calendar quarters.
Summer Services
"Great Spiritual Leaders" will the theme unifying our services next summer.
Service Proposal Protocol
How do we respond to a statement like "I'd like to lead a service on 'X'." While we want our pulpit to be available to Servetans, we also have a resonsiblity to provide services that are appropriate and of high quality. A draft protocol ("a standard for the exchange of information") was discussed. We agreed to try this approach and refine it as experience dictates.
