Change for the World
Kate Rae and Marvin Benson will review and update the job description for the Change for the World Coordinator. They are to report back to the January meeting. We have selcted charities through the first quarter of 2005. During that first quarter, we need to poll the congregation and select charities for the followng year.
Holiday Services
Planning for Christmas Eve services is on track. The recipients of the offering
(MLK Elementary, McLaughlin Middle School, and the YWCA's Safe Choice shelter
for battered women) have been approved.
January 2nd will be our traditional New Years candle-lighting
service. It will be led by Tracy Kelly and Christina Dodds.
Support Services
Things have been going smoothly. We could always use more volunteers for Logistics for the early service. Our new worship leaders have been a credit to our pulpit.
Third Service?
Attendance at regular Sunday services this fall has averaged 168. We need
to start thinking about the possibility of a third service. (Don't panic!
We're only THINKING!) Mark noted that a third service would require "substancial
financial resources" and, if he were to participate, a major change in his
responsibilities. We agreed to start thinking about an additional service
as part of our contribution to the strategic plan the congregation will be
buiilding next spring.
Summer 2005
A review of last summer held no suprises. Attendance, while good, does not yet justify holding two services. The use of an organizing theme has proven beneficial. Some suggestions of possible themes for summer, 2005: Great Spiritual Leaders; Moral Values UU Style.
Proposing a Service
We continued our consideration of a protocol for assessing proposals for worship services. We considered what kind of proposals had been received in the past and how we wished we could address them. Marilynn Hall and Tracy Kelly will attempt to capture our ideas in a writen protocol to be presented to the Worship Committee in January.
