Highlights of Worship Committee Meeting on September 8, 2004

The Worship Committee is looking for a replacement for Leslie Clute who was responsible for the Cange for the World program.

LITURGICAL CALENDAR
Mark presented a liturgical calendar for MSUUF. For each month, in one column the table showed the standard events we do each year and in a separate column a list of occasional or possible worship events for that month. This will be a great aid in planning our worship offerings.

HALLOWEEN
Halloween will be on Sunday this year and our worship service will reflect the theme. Servetans are urged to come in costume, and groups (families, committees, chalice circles, etc) are urged to costume with a common theme. And it's going to be a worship service, honest!

JEREMY TAYLOR SERMON
Reactions were widely varied to the Rev. Jeremy Taylor's sermon. Some were in tears, some walked out, others gave Rev. Taylor a standing ovation. It seems clear that the style of presentation got in the way of the underlying content. Mark agreed to write a minister-to-minster letter to Rev. Taylor expressing our concerns.

DECEMBER SERVICES
Mark will coordinate the content of the Christmas Eve services. Erica and the Music Committee will take care of music. Still needed: An Arrangements Coordinator. (Any volunteers? Job description available. Contact Erica or Mark.)

Erica will work with other Commonwealth expatriates to provide a Boxing Day observance on December 26^th.

WORSHIP and GROWTH
On Saturday, October 2^nd, the Rev. Elizabeth Greene will present a workshop on "Worship and Growth". For Servetans, your pledge has paid for your participation. If you're interested in worship, in congregational growth, or just want to mix with committed UUs from around the area, this is the event for you.
