Highlights of Worship Committee Meeting on August 11, 2004

The full minutes are available in a Microsoft Word file ( DOC) and in an Adobe Portable Document Format file ( PDF). In both documents, the table of contents entries are hyperlinks to the corresponding topics. In addition, you may use “bookmarks” in the Acrobat reader to reach the same material. Happy reading!

GOODBYE, LESLIE
The good news is that Leslie Clute has a new position at Hewlett Packard. The bad news is that learning a new job and increased travel leave Leslie with no time for Worship Committee duties. Goodbye, Leslie! We'll miss you.

Bring Your Own Question
Congratulations to Mark for his courage in attempting the Bring Your Own Question service. It was well done and well received.

LATE ARRIVALS
Some ushers have expressed discomfort at being put in the position of traffic cop, trying to regulate when late-comers are admited to the service. It was decided to remind people of the need to enter quietly and then try letting people seat themselves as they arrive. We also intend to experiment with a section roped off to leave seats in the back for late-comers.

USHERS
Ambra and Gisho have agreed to continue to coordinate ushers during the school year, each taking one service as they did last year.

Special Services
December 24th - Mark will preside over the Christmas Eve service.
December 26th - We agreed to think about this service and address the topic again in September.
January 2nd - We will be back on our regular two-service schedule. The service will be the traditional end-of-year candle-lighting service.
February 20th - The PNWD Annual Meeting will host a large worship service in Portland this morning. Should we cancel our services and suggest people go to the Portland service? Comments such as "There has to be a service," "We're always open on Sunday morning," carried the day. February 20th will be a normal Sunday with two services at MSUUF.

LOGISTICS COORDINATOR COORDINATOR
Marilynn Hall has been calling logistics coordinators to remind them just before the Sudays for which they have volunteered. In September she will take over responsiblity for the entire logistics coordinator program.
