WORSHP & GROWTHMSUUF will host a Worship & Growth workshop 9:00 - 12:30 on Saturday, October 2nd. Free to Servetans, $10 to all others. The featured speaker is the Reverend Elizabeth Greene, minister of the UU church in Boise and president of the PNWD chapter of the UU Ministers Association. LOGISTICS COORDINATORS Marilynn Hall will be contacting Logistics Coordinators with a reminder. It is hoped this will insure we have logistics support on Sunday morning. TAKING OUR SHOW ON THE ROAD Nora presented a suggestion for holding combination social and worship events closer to where some Servetans live (like Battleground, Camas, or Ridgefield). The idea is to occassionally present an informal worship in someone's home as a way of bringing MSUUF coloser to those who have to travel long distances on Sunday morning. We also considered the possiblility of makeing these extention events. We'll reconsider the idea after the Worship & Growth workshop. CHOIR FOCUS This year the choir will try to coordinate their music with major events on the religious calendar. For example, for Ramadan they will present a piece whose lyrics were written by Rumi. PROPOSING WORSHIP SERVICES We revisited the topic of what standards to use in evaluationg proposed worship services. More interesting discussion, but no decisions. Having writen standards feels too much like standing inappropiately in judgement of others' religion. SUCCESSES Thanks to Grethcen Meyer. When two speakers cancelled for July 4th, she wrote her own sermon and presented it. When Judi McGavin needed to postpone her July 18th sermon due to a family crisis, Gretchen immediately arranged for the Revered Linda Hart to fill in. We all owe Gretchen a debt of gratitude!
