CHURCH VISITATION REPRORT Marvin Benson reported on his visits to several Christian churches in the Vancouver area. His entire report is contained in an appendix to the full minutes. WORSHIP WORKSHOP On October 2nd MSUUF will host a worship workshop featuring the Reverend Elizabeth Greene. The workshop will focus on the role of worship in growth. CHILDREN'S TIME Director of Religious Education Barbara Stevens met with the Worship Committee to discuss Children's Time. Several ideas were discussed, but no changes were agreed upon. NEXT BIG THING The Worship Committee agreed to focus on the topic "Enhancing the role of worship in supporting congregational growth" as its next big area of concern. The Worship Workshop in October will kick off this effort. A special meeting is planned to follow up on what is learned from the workshop. PROGRAM LEADERS Effective September 12, 2004, the Worship Committee delegates the recruiting, scheduling, and coaching of all Program Leaders to the Senior Program Leaders, who are themselves serving under the auspices of the minister. They are charged to strive for an appropriate and evolving balance between the values of broad participation in the ministry of Program Leading and consistent quality in pulpit leadership. SERVICE STARTING TIME The Worship Committee received a request to move the worship services to each start earlier on Sunday morning. The later starting times have helped to even out the attendance between the two services and no change is anticipated in the near future.
