Much of the December meeting was devoted to routine business. We reviewed the status of each of the worship support jobs, and noted that articles on Change for the World and the Christmas Family had been placed in the Servetan. Other items include ...
Minister, Worship Committee, and Leadership
After reviewing the possible leadership arrangements and the strengths of each, the Worship Committee agreed that
The Minister has primary authority for the worship life of the MSUUF congregation.
The sub-committee responsible for articulating a charge for the Worship Committee will work with the Minister to develop a draft charge for consideration by the committee at the January 14th meeting.

Patty Page Has New Responsibilities
Patty Page has agreed to chair the Feedback Committee. She regretted having to resign from the Worship Committee to make room for her new responsibilities. Patty will continue as a MSUUF Board Trustee.

Christmas Eve Service
Safety during the candle lighting was discussed extensively. People have been recruited for all of the support jobs. Plans are complete for the two Christmas Eve services.

Term Limits
Some years ago, the Worship Committee adopted a policy that set the length of term for committee memebers and also set term limits. The intent of a fixed-length term was to make it easier to explain to potential new members what committeement was being made by joining the committee. Term limits insured that there would be openings so that new talent could be integrated into the committee.

Unfortunately, the policy has never been observed. Enforcing it now would remove most of the committee's members. To avoid crippling the committee, we rescinded the policy. However, the arguments for that policy are still valid. We scheduled a fresh consideration of term length and term limits for the February, 2004, meeting.

Aesthetics
Off and on over the years, there has been discussion of decorating the wall behind the pulpit with materials that complemented the worship service. Nora distrubuted logos representing various world faith traditions. She proposed that we use such symbols on the wall. We discussed possible implementations, such as painting the logos on the wall, or having them sewn as banners. Nora was enouraged to continue her exploration.
