Music Committee Minutes
May 11, 2004
1. Opening
2. Check-in
3. Sunday book
Hymns for May, June, and early July were selected.
4. Show Tunes (Al Wilson)
Al brought a listing of the expenses for the event. Receipts for the ice cream
need to be found and turned in. Numerous things were learned from the experience.
Al and Patti would like to do the event again, perhaps involving several
churches and having the event catered and in a larger facility. We will ask
participants to turn in the copies of the learning CD’s to Rex or destroy
them.
Rex and Al will fill out the reimbursement forms Wednesday evening at 6pm at
MSUUF.
Al will ask Patti whether she wanted to be reimbursed for the CD’s of
the musicals (which would become property of MSUUF) or keep them herself.
5. American Music Program on June 5th
7:30 – 9:30pm, Admission by donation and/or dessert.
Michele would like to have several tapestry panels here for display since it
is the final fundraiser for the tapestry project. Michele will make fliers,
and get the list of musicians to Jennifer so that Jennifer can get the information
to newspapers.
Thomas Rheingans (confirmed), Cascade Troubadors (possible), Carl Thor (Michele
will talk to him, Talisman), Michele may also ask Chovena Bird, Joy Overstreet,
and Dave Irwin.
Proceeds will pay off the remaining balance of the $800 for the Tapestry Project,
any remaining funds will go to music restricted funds.
Rex will talk to Tammy about having the sexton clean up and reset for the Sunday
service.
6. Year End Report
Rex will send out the list of our yearly accomplishments via e-mail.
7. Featured Musician
We need to communicate better with RE and YRUU about their plans for music.
We asked about hymns, but they chose their own featured musicians. Dates
for children’s time also need to be noted in the Sunday book under
featured musicians.
8. Choir Accompanist Yearly Evaluation.
We have the forms from the Personnel Committee Rex, Kristine, and Erica will
work on it.
9. Choir Director Yearly Evaluation
We have the forms from the Personnel Committee Rex, Kristine, and Erica will
work on it.
10. Bid on the RE Grand $1,870.00 (Letter Bid to follow)
The piano needs new shanks, mallets and bushings. The pedals can also be tightened
up. We have $340 remaining in the maintenance part of this year’s budget.
Bruce will start the job with half the money up front. We would need an additional
$610 to begin the process. The garden spot has approximately $150 to donate
to the repairs (Rex will talk to Earl Gunther about the garden spot money).
Jennifer will talk to CLUUB and YRUU about helping with fundraising.
11. April 25th Sunday service
Went fabulously. Rex got so many compliments on the service.
12. No meeting in June
13. Choir Report
The choir recognized Andrew McConnathy for his graduation at a recent rehearsal.
The choir will join the Atkinson Memorial Choir for the May 16th service.
