Music Committee Minutes
April 14, 2004
1. Opening and check-in
2. Sunday Book
Featured musicians selected through June 20th. Rex will talk to Sue Aschim
to see if YRUU will select their own hymns for May 2nd or if Music Comm will.
3. Recap the Show Tunes fundraiser
There was $591 in ticket sales, and proceeds after expenses were approximately
$250. The committee will send a letter to Patti and Al to recap the experiences/lessons
from the event.
4. Recap the Woven Threads Coffee House (March)
We raised approximately $180 for the tapestry project. Roger was a great MC,
and we had a good mix of performers.
5. Money for the June Coffee house (Early American Music)
Rex OK’d a $250 expenditure for the Cascade Troubadors. Thomas Rheingans
will also play. Circle Round may perform, also. Rex will bring the organizational
sheets to the May meeting.
6. Review of the Restricted Funds
We have $1950 in the Music Restricted Fund. This includes funds earmarked for
chimes repair/re-tuning, piano repairs, etc.
7. Discuss the work needed for the RE Piano to be repaired and made to sound
like a piano
The grand in RE desperately needs repairs and we have $300 for piano repairs
in the budget. There is approximately $100 from last year’s garden spot
that was earmarked for piano repair (Jennifer will talk to Earl about transferring
that money to the Music Restricted Fund). Repairs to the hammers and pedals
should cost about $1200, but Rex does not have a written estimate. Rex will
get an estimate for the repairs from Bruce Lindley.
8. Piano Accompanist for Non-Choir Sunday
Andrew is stepping down as accompanist. Nancy will cover most of the Sundays
during the summer. Music Committee is requesting money to pay accompanists
in next year’s budget. We could advertise the need for an accompanist
(also special musicians) in the Servetan or Bulletin, but will most likely
need to ask people in person (Nancy will write this for the Servetan).
9. Budget to be turned in on April 15th
Budget is already together and ready to be sent.
10. Choir accompanist Yearly Evaluation
Kristine, Rex and Erica will talk and try to find a date to do the evaluation.
11. Choir Director Yearly Evaluation???
Yearly performance evaluations are not done generally for contractors. However,
do we want to sit down with him for lunch and take stock of the year? Yes,
probably.
12. Contra Dance to be moved to Feb or March of 2005
13. Audio Music Selections
Nancy volunteered to donate several classical music CD’s to the sound
booth to play during days when there are no special musicians. Jennifer is
donating one of her CD’s. Rex will help select music to be played.
15. Closing (strawberry pie and closing words)
