Music Committee MinutesNovember 11, 2003
Chalice Lighting and Opening Check-in * Sunday Book * Children as Featured Musicians We need to write our guidelines that will include: 1) The need to set the tone
of the service with the music, 2) the time available for each piece of music,
3) they do not need to do both services or all of the musical selections,
4) the child Featured Musician should have music that is practiced and appropriate. * Tapestry: * Other Concerts: We could have a “Tapestry” theme—“Woven Threads” perhaps for the March 13th Coffee house. (Invite Talisman for March13th?) In our January meeting we will discuss the March Coffee House. * Choir Report: * Christmas Eve: * January Concert: Rex will send Al and Patti a letter to find out whether it is a fundraiser or not. Where the Money is going, and if it needs Board of Trustees approval. Check rental policy if not a MSUUF event. Find our if they have lined up an accompanist. Send them a fundraiser form, pink slips to reserve the room for the event and the rehearsals. * Future: plans for the future Jack Slingerland sent Rex a job description for the Musci Director at Evergreen UU Fellowship. This will be a good reference for the future when we begin to search for a Music Director. Evergreen's MD is a .25 position. Presently, the Music Committee provides most of the services of a Music Director. It would be nice to be able to have a Music Director that could more closely coordinate with the Minister and the RE Director. Rex will try to have a plan put together for the December meeting regarding a position description for a Music Director (low, medium, high priorities). BIN ITEMS 1. Next years budget: list events that we haven't had this year because of our reduced budget: Men's chorus, Etc. 2. Find some time to use hymn #175. 3. Find some time to bring Talisman into play, either a Sunday Service, or a concert.
