Choir Report from Nora Siegfried Choir Manager
Meeting with Section leaders to go over duties on July 23rd. Music will be
selected for this
Year at the meeting also. Invitation to the choir has been extended to
participate in music selection.
Thoughts on the Coffee house
We need to coordinate the Master of Ceremonies and the performers so as to
not use up so much time in getting the next person up to perform. We might
need a stage manager also. Someone that would make sure the next act is up
and ready when their time comes.
More detail on the time constraints. If a person has to talk as well as perform,
then they need to include that time in their performance time. We were over
by 30 minutes this last time.
We grossed $280.00 on this coffeehouse, the largest amount since last year.
Guitar Class
The guitar class worked well. We had 11 different people total that came to
classes and 8 people that made it to the performance. The cost was $650, which
was in the budget.
Choir Accompanist Report
Rex and Erica meet with Karen Dale and reviewed the year. A full report was
submitted to the business manager.
RE Committee meeting with Music
We are coordinating a program this year with RE. This program is beginning
to take shape and has been suggested to Rev Mark Gallagher and Barbara Stevens.
An outline of the meeting is as follows.
Five or Six adults will be trained in the making physics, and use some type
of musical instrument. We will then organize a song that could be taught to
the appropriate age children in RE. We will then work with the children to
make the instruments and learn the songs. We will perform our songs in the
intergenerational service on the 25 Th. of April 2004.
Much planning and coordination is still needed on this project. This project
will be the Music committees program for this year. 2003-04
Insurance Report: The replacement cost of the pianos has been received from
Moe's Pianos.
The Steinway Grand is $30,000
The Lindemann Grand is $8,999
The Baldwin Spinet is $600
The Yamaha Keyboard is $800
This is being used in our insurance policy.
Hymn Sings
We recommend that we do not have hymn sings during the summer, and resume them
when we return to two services. The timing just does not seem to work.
New Business
Time allocated to music in the Sunday Service
We need to ensure that the Featured musicians know how long they are to perform.
Jennifer will talk with Brian about how to tighten this up so we are not going
too long and extending the service.
Mark has an idea of a service that will include some special song. A Featured
musician could perform this. Rex will talk to Mark about this work on scheduling.
Rex asked for a date from Ron Paul for his Quartet to perform at MSUUF. We
will have to check back with Ron after he talks to his Quartet.
Michele has an idea on using Vancouver Tapestry.
$450 per panel on a quilt for Lewis and Clark 2005 celebration.
Rex will continue to communicate with RE Committee on the Music Committee Sunday
program with RE. April 25th, 2004.
If we would like to do Debra Porters play, Heart Exchange, we should plan on
doing it in 2005.
Mark has picked the Date for the Choir to go to Gresham. November 2, 2003.
We need to continue to schedule events for the 50th celebration such as: music,
poems, and dance, from the two eras, 1500s and the 50s.
Erica will get out some more information on the vision of a Music Director
at MSUUF.
Jobs for next meeting
None assigned. Let Rex know if you are willing to do opening and closing.
BIN
o Question, should we be charging for classes like the Guitar Class? If so
what should we charge? We have been asked to do a sequel.
o Idea for Coffeehouse, 16th century?
