Music Committee Minutes

March 11, 2003
Opening Erica
Check-in
Trifold
Michele finished the Tri-fold, and they look great. We'll print 30-50
at a time. (Mark has seen them and has indicated that they are beautiful.)
Choir Roster
We need to update the choir roster and schedule as we have had new
members attending
Budget
Rex reviewed the current budget figures and account balances. We have
sufficient funds to proceed on the repair of the RE Grand.
We are under-budget with the choir director. There have not been as many
special events this year. We will ask Ryc to hold a guitar workshop with
the idea that there could be a performance for the fellowship at its
conclusion.
We decided to give the piano accompanist travel expenses for the Olympia
Trip. This will be taken out of Choir Expenses.
(It has been discovered that there is about $800.00 that has not been
credited to the piano repair fund. We are talking with both the Business
Manager and the Treasurer to ensure that we know who donated to the
piano, and that all donations are credited to the repair fund. Both
Erica and Rex are working on this problem.)
Old Business
Minutes from Feb meeting Oked
Program council discussed the feedback loop and queried committee heads
about what each committee is doing to encourage feedback. Music
Committee will use the MSUUF website to facilitate this. For feedback
such as request for Hymns we could put a spot on the WebPages. Kristine
will be the contact for Hymns. We will put an article in the Servetan to
the effect that we are posting our agendas on the music section of the
MSUUF WebPages on the Internet. {Jennifer will write the article for the
Servetan.} (Rex will contact members of the Program Council to see if
other committees would like to participate.)
Status of Pianos
The Steinway was playable for the concert, yet it still has some work
that needs to be done. The sostenuto pedal is not functioning, and there
needs to be some touch up tuning in about three weeks.
(We were able to raise $451.25 at the classical concert, and after
expensed of coffee and accompanist for the vocalist are paid, this will
be used to continue the setup and repair of the RE Grand.)
The RE Grand will need to be pitched, tuned, have a piano truck, a
cover, and have repair work done on the pedals.
Classical Concert needs to have a few volunteers for coffee, setup, and
cleanup. Rex to MC (will that did not happen, it was really Erica and
Rex) The choir has been asked to bring desserts. (The choir did a
magnificent job on this, and we were able to use the desserts that
remained as the choir's contribution to DeEtte Adams, Kate Rae's mother,
funeral service.)
Erica put together a great segment at the classical concert to
acknowledge the contributions of all those that help get the piano
repaired and refurbished.
Evaluation Committee
The committee still needs to set a date to meet for the evaluation of
the Choir Accompanist. (The personnel committee has the approved job
description, and the evaluation would be a good time to go over that
with Karen. Rex is to set up the initial committee meeting.)
1st Church Cuba Choir performance was spectacular. All went well, and
they seemed to enjoy our fellowship, and Fellowship.
Tenebrae
The Tenebrae committee is formed and moving forward with this year's Good
Friday Program. (The Chimes Choir, the MSUUF Choir and Jennifer
Pratt-Walter, and Al Wilson will be providing music for the service.)
New Business
Volunteer Recognition
The Music committee will contribute $50 to the evening party June 7th as
requested at program council by Sue Aschim.
Bulletin Board
We use the bulleting boards to put up the choir schedule and
notification of upcoming concerts. (Program council is trying to figure
out how to keep the bulletin boards looking good.
Coffee House
The June 14th coffeehouse will have the theme of a Kaleidoscope.
Hymns
Hymns need to be selected for the following dates, 3/30, 4/13, 5/4,
5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/1.
Hymn Sing
We should use the Mic to introduce the Hymn Sing. This could help to get
more people there to participate. The program seems to be progressing well.
Audio System
Rex has tried to contact DeltaAV twice, and has received no response. He
will continue to try to get an evaluation of the Audio system to have it
function smoothly. Chris Smith has made a suggestion that a new audio
system could be proposed as a 50th year celebration gift to the
Fellowship by the congregation. This would remove the patchwork system
that we presently have.
Rex will provide the opening and closing for next meeting.
Notes by Kristine Bendixen, typing and updates by Rex Siegfried. Updates
are in (###).
